Pity those poor fools in America

Can you believe that these suckers have actually conned themselves into paying to receive SMS? That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard of. In some cases up to $0.20 per message. And in the US people are sending and receiving an astounding number of SMS messages: 48 billion messages in December 2007 alone! So some Spammer gets your cell number and suddenly you’re paying for the privilege of getting ads! Argh!

Here in the more civilized “developing” world, a person only pays for sending SMS, never for receiving. And in most cases a person who uses top-up on their phone regularly has such an excess of SMS and MMS credit that they never pay for the service.

SMS and MMS costs a service provider virtually nothing. So a per message charge is simply scalping your clientele.
