The elusive triple century
100 visitors per day. Technorati authority of 100. 100 subscribers.
The big three-oh-oh. I want it. Blogging is a big game for me. Like collecting baseball cards. Or having the biggest motorhome in the RV park. I’m just addicted to the stuff.
100. 100. 100.
I’ve got the first one. I’m so close to the second. And the third? It’s an elusive quarry. WordPress dropped their feed stats. FeedBlitz promised me Rachel and I woke up with Leah. Google Reader will not tell me. So all I’ve got to go on is my subscribers in Bloglines. 25 wonderful people. Maybe the other 75 are already pulling Lingamish through Google Reader and I don’t know it.
What is the key to the triple century?
- Scandal mongering and mud slinging? I do it.
- Consistent posting? Once a day except on Sunday.
- Networking with my peers? Done.
I have come to the conclusion that as a last resort I might have to earn a doctorate and publish a book. How about an honorary doctorate and a Lulu ebook instead?

I don’t know if it will work, but Google Webmasters (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/siteoverview) has a page for subscriber facts… it might have the stats you want?
“If your site publishes feeds of its content, this page will display the number of users who have subscribed to these feeds using Google products such as iGoogle, Google Reader, or Orkut. Because readers can use other sites and aggregators to subscribe to your content, your total number of subscribers from all sources may be higher. Also, these stats list only those feeds with actual subscribers. If your site publishes a feed that does not currently have any Google subscribers, it will not be listed.”
Dannii, many thanks for pointing this out to me. I’ve been too dense to figure this out up til now. See my next post for how you do this with a WordPress.com account.
Holy mackarel, a lot of people are using Google Reader… I might hit that century yet.
[...] I eclipsed the century mark today. Back in September I drooled over the elusive triple century: 100 visitors a day, 100 technorati rank and 100 subscribe…. But what honor remains for those of us among the top 0.00001 percent of bloggers on the planet? In [...]
